Walking Can Help You Lose Weight!
Walking is never considered a proper aerobic exercise, but science has been able to prove that it works just as good as any other kind of exercise or workout routine and can help you get in shape. Walking burns a lot of calories and can help you lose a big amount of weight in just a few months.
However, people often are confused on how much they should walk to lose weight. According to studies, you lose about 100 calories per mile which takes 2000 steps. Knowing this, you should burn about 3500 calories to lose a pound of weight, or burn 500 calories per day to lose a pound in week. Wearing a pedometer can help as it counts the steps you’re taking. Some people consider walks boring, but, by making it more fun, you will really enjoy it. Take a walk with a friend and change the daily routine, or take your headphones with you and listen to your favorite music to make it more fun.
To really lose weight, however, you need to ditch the car and walk to work, or at least park a few blocks away. Every little thing counts, so take the stairs instead of the elevator, and avoid getting busses or taxi. When walking, tighten your abs and keep looking forward, and walk 15-20 minutes 3 times a week in the beginning and gradually increase the duration. All these factors combined will help you lose a lot of weight if you stay persistent.
